The Fox, clever and naughty character along with the Araucanía lion (the Puma) are the main characters in this "epew", a tale that takes place in the forests of central and southern Chile where the Mapuche culture arose and this tale is representative of the oral tradition passed on from one generation to the next. Characters like lambs, skunks, ibises and other birds are also part of this amusing story.
The story presented in the app “Epew” is the result of field research carried out by our team throughout the rural and urban landscape of the Araucanía region retrieving different epew (tales) and accounting for its social, cultural and geographical diversity.
This app allows you to enjoy an epew shared with us by Mrs. Paula Painén (declared a living human treasure by UNESCO) in Spanish, English and soon in Mapuzungun (Mapuche language) with great illustrations, effects and animations. You will be able to paint the illustrations and save your own versions to share them on Facebook!
